I would say no. I think you can find better at this price. Agathis is a kind of old pine trees, if not recall. Not really a good tone of the wood at all. The truck that the guitar together is not so great, that tend to sludge up the low end and really only sound rather dead and lifeless. Real EMG pickups are way ahead of them. If you're wanting to replace the stock pickups with EMG, it is possible that you can with this guitar. As I said, Agathis not sound so great, but largely EMG color is the tone of the instrument. You can put in mahogany, alder, ash, basswood, and still sounds like EMG. But if you do not want EMG, I would find a guitar that had a wooden body better and better pills.
